Etched in Stone – Cemeteries: Their Symbols and Customs Presentation

4 October 2016 “Etched in Stone – Cemeteries: Their Symbols and Customs Presentation” presented by Dennis Jacobs and held in the Brown County Central Library – lower level 515 Pine St Green Bay, Wisconsin from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm.

Dennis R Jacobs has been doing cemetery research since he was a teenager.  He would ride his bicycle to Holy Cross Cemetery in Bay Settlement and do rubbings with crayons and notebook paper.  This love of cemeteries has turned into a hobby, where Dennis now is documenting the graves of Civil War soldiers that gave their lives during the war.  He also assists friends and family on to document, photograph and correctly clean gravestones.  Dennis is the Senior Vice Commander of Old Abe camp 8 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and the camp is currently working on searching and recording the graves of all the Civil War veterans in Wisconsin, so they can be added to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War national grave database.
